Great start for manroland and Tensor cooperation

Friday 25. February 2011 - manroland sells T-1400 to Editora Central Ltda. in Maringá, Brazil

Good news from the young cooperation between manroland and Tensor: the first press within this agreement, a Tensor T-1400, was sold to Editora Central Ltda. in Maringá in the northeast of the Brazilian state Paraná. It will be delivered in March to print the newspaper O Diario do Norte de Paraná with a daily circulation of around 20,000 copies and semicommercial work.
“We couldn’t have had a better start,” says Albrecht Röser, manroland Sales Representative South America. “We are glad that our first customer within our cooperation with Tensor is a newspaper publisher who has been working with competitor presses until now. Offering Tensor equipment gave us access to this smaller, yet very successful printing company which is also one of the leading regional multimedia groups.” In August 2010 manroland and Tensor concluded a distribution agreement making manroland the marketing and sales partner of Tensor’s presses with a focus on high-growth emerging countries such as in Central and South America. Tensor has been manufacturing single-width web offset presses since 1993 and has sold a total of approximately 2,600 printing units worldwide so far. The cooperation marked an important step in manroland’s strategy to strengthen the brand and market position in markets with dynamic growth rates. Tensor’s equipment rounds off manroland’s product range with presses combining a budget-priced investment with efficient production.
Decision after diligent search
Franklin Vieira da Silva, President at Editora Central, says: “We chose Tensor after a diligent search. We visited installations in Norway, Denmark, and Turkey which convinced us that the Tensor concept is exactly what we were looking for. The press is a 100 percent US product and gives us the quality and versatility we need for our daily production. We are sure our investment will be strongly recognized in our area.” Editora Central Ltda. is one of the leading regional multimedia groups of Brazil. In addition to the 39 year old flagship newspaper the group also owns Radio Cultura AM, a popular radio station, odiario.com, a general news website, and other online and offline media businesses in niche markets ranging from a bus advertising company to entertainment online guides.
New press, new pressroom
The T-1400 consists of six reel splicers, four eight-couple towers for full-color production, two U printing units, the Tensor H50 folder, and a UV dryer for semi-commercial applications. The press runs at 35,000 cylinder revolutions per hour and features a production management and remote control system. It will be adequately received at O Diario with a newly built pressroom.
