The New York Times Company Names Diane Brayton Secretary and Assistant General Counsel
Friday 18. February 2011 - The New York Times Company announced today that Diane Brayton, assistant secretary and assistant general counsel, has been named secretary and assistant general counsel, effective immediately. In her new role, Ms. Brayton, 42, will continue to report to Kenneth Richieri, senior vice president and general counsel, The New York Times Company. She succeeds Mr. Richieri in the role of secretary.
“Diane has done an outstanding job advising the Company in the increasingly complex area of corporate governance,” Mr. Richieri said. “Diane’s strong leadership and technical skills make her a valuable member of the Company’s senior management team.”
Ms. Brayton joined the Times Company in 2004 as counsel and was promoted to senior counsel in 2007 and to assistant secretary and assistant general counsel in 2009.
Previously, Ms. Brayton was vice president and counsel in the legal department of Credit Suisse First Boston from 2002 to 2004 and an associate at the law firm of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in New York, Moscow and London from 1997 to 2002. From 1996 to 1997, she was a clerk for the Honorable W. Eugene Davis of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Ms. Brayton received a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Nebraska in 1991 and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996, where she graduated with honors.
