Domino shortlisted for Company of the Year in 25th Anniversary PLC Awards

Wednesday 16. February 2011 - Domino Printing Sciences plc, the Cambridge, UK-based manufacturer of product identification, traceability and digital printing solutions, has been shortlisted in the Company of the Year category at the forthcoming PLC Awards.

Incorporated in 1978 and listed on the London Stock Exchange since 1984, the Domino Group reported sales for the year to 31 October 2010 of £300 million, a record growth of 17 per cent over the previous year and the Group’s 32nd year of consecutive growth. Domino entered the FTSE 250 index in June 2008 and was admitted last year to the FTSE4Good Index Series, which measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards.
Domino group managing director Nigel Bond says that the most recent financial results are all the more remarkable for having been achieved against the backdrop of a challenging global economy. “Domino responded to the recession by increasing our Research and Development spend to record levels – resulting in an exciting range of new products – and by deploying resources to ensure that we have emerged as a stronger and more effective business. This nomination is a tribute to the professionalism, dedicated endeavour and support of our 2,150 employees worldwide,” he says.
Judging criteria for the Company of the Year category state that ‘the winner will be a company that has clearly demonstrated that success is not just a short term phenomenon. The winning company will undoubtedly be successful in share price terms, but with full realisation that share price is but one method of measurement. It will be professionally managed, of course; its long term strategy will be intact, and its growth and development to date will have been soundly financed as befits a conservatively run growth business.’
The PLC Awards event was founded in 1987 to reward excellence in the smaller quoted company sector. The winners are announced at the annual PLC Awards Dinner, to be held this year on March 10, 2011. This is one of the City’s most prestigious events, attended by 1,500 guests, including quoted companies, investment banks, fund managers, investment analysts, and corporate advisors.
