New iPhone Application from Buck Consultants, A Xerox Company, Puts Health Benefit Information at Your Fingertips

Tuesday 30. November 2010 - Can’t remember what your health insurance co-pay is or what medical services are covered? Unsure if your tetanus shot is up to date?

Buck Consultants, A Xerox Company (NYSE: XRX), has launched two first-of-a-kind iPhone applications that let users keep track of health insurance benefits and store key health information that can be accessed on-the-go — often when they need it most —from their iPhone.

With the Benefits GenieTM Lite application, users can enter their health and insurance benefit information for themselves and family members right into their phone. The application makes it easy to keep track of known allergies, prescribed medications, current vaccinations, health screenings, past and future doctor appointments, appointment reminders, physician contact information, and benefit co-payments and deductibles.

A more extensive version of the application, Benefits Genie, includes a networking feature that helps users share and receive information with those they trust, such as family, friends, and caretakers. In addition to the networking feature, Benefits Genie also includes a benefits dictionary, questions to ask your doctor, health quizzes, healthy recipes, and more. To ensure and protect privacy, both applications require users to enter a personal identification number (PIN).

“Individuals walk into medical facilities everyday without knowing basic information about their insurance coverage,” said Donald Sanford, principal at Buck Consultants. “This application not only puts benefit information at an individual’s fingertips. In an emergency, it can even save a life.”

Benefits Genie and Benefits Genie Lite are available for purchase on the iPhone App Store. Benefits Genie Lite may be purchased for $0.99, and Benefits Genie may be purchased for $4.99. The applications are also being developed for other major smartphone platforms.
