INVESTMENT IN NEW SHEETING MACHINE AT KORSNÄS FRÖVI

Thursday 18. November 2010 - Sales volumes for sheet products in the Cartonboard business area have increased steadily in recent years. At Korsnäs Frövi, we have two machines with a total annual sheeting capacity of 60,000 tonnes, but this is not enough to meet future market needs.

For this reason, we have decided to increase capacity in sheeted materials by acquiring a further sheeting machine at Korsnäs Frövi. The investment, totalling SEK 30 million, includes measures affecting existing equipment and premises as well as new machinery.

The addition of a modern sheeting machine means that Korsnäs will be able to offer the latest technology in meeting customers’ increasing quality requirements and the market’s increased tonnage needs. The capacity of the new machine is estimated to be 30,000 tonnes per year and it is expected to be brought on line and aligned during the autumn of 2011.

“Carrying out sheeting adjacent to cartonboard production is favourable from the point of view of quality, since our positioning towards premium applications imposes increasing quality requirements on sheeted products,” explains Håkan Krantz, Mill Director at Korsnäs Frövi. Korsnäs’ personnel at the company’s in-house sheeting facility have superior product awareness and are able to provide rapid feedback as customer requirements increase. It’s also a major advantage that product quality and consistency checks can be performed in-house.
