New Models, Options Enhance Screen Truepress Jet520 Series

The Truepress Jet520ZZ, the new flagship of Screen's variable inkjet web press family, adds faster speeds and wider web capability to the product line.

Friday 08. October 2010 - Screen (USA) is strengthening the Truepress Jet520 series of full-color variable printing systems by adding new models and production-enhancing options.

The Truepress Jet520 has garnered worldwide praise as an on-demand printing system suitable for diverse applications since entering the marketplace in 2006. Screen has just created two new Truepress Jet520 models that build on the inkjet web press’s success: the high-end Truepress Jet520ZZ, designed for superior productivity, and the Truepress Jet520EX Color, which brings affordable, full-color on-demand printing to the industry.

“These new models offer an even wider range of solutions that make the most of the Truepress Jet520 series’ capabilities,” said Bill Brunone, vice president of targeted inkjet systems at Screen (USA). “A variety of available options improve quality, functionality and dependability for added-value on-demand and variable data printing offered by the Truepress Jet520.”

JD-520 external drying unit
The JD-520 is an external drying unit developed by Screen to improve ink drying for inkjet printing systems. Users can select different drying settings to suit a wide range of printing environments. Operators can use paper types that have posed drying challenges in the past, such as inkjet matte coated paper and inkjet glossy coated paper. Best of all, the JD-520 can be connected to the Truepress Jet520 in different system arrangements. Furthermore, adding the JD-520 to systems that already have been installed enables users to expand the range of printed products they offer while investing in new equipment in stages.

JetInspection JI-500 inspection unit
JetInspection JI-500 for variable data printing presses uses a camera to capture barcodes and optical character recognition fonts and output the inspection results after decoding. Using this system increases product reliability and contributes to more consistent production. In the future, Screen plans to offer a full-pixel, real-time inspection function that compares entire pages, including images and text, with their digital data.

Ink saving solution
The ink saving solution reduces ink costs without sacrificing image quality. It decreases the total volume of ink used and accelerates drying while improving the reproduction of areas of high color saturation. It can reduce ink usage by up to 15 percent. It is particularly effective with pages that contain many images, as well as with data that uses a great deal of cyan, magenta and yellow. In addition, it supports the creation of stable gray tones.

PANTONE library
EQUIOS (the front-end system for the Truepress Jet520ZZ) includes PANTONE PLUS and PANTONE Goe from the PANTONE library. The inclusion of color charts for the widely used PANTONE colors ensures easier, more accurate conversion of PANTONE colors to process colors in the RIP.

Visitors to Graph Expo 2010 can learn more about the entire Truepress Jet520 family in Screen (USA) booth #1637, October 3-6 at Chicago’s McCormick Place.
