Designmaker 2010: At viscom design meets implementation

Friday 30. July 2010 - "Urban Jungle" is the theme of the first Designmaker competition at viscom, the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication, in Frankfurt.

In this competition, the focus is not only on the design but also on the realisation of the idea. The motto is: Design meets implementation. Therefore, the award will not go to the most creative designs but to the best designs in terms of developing their full effect when applied to different advertising media. No matter whether it’s on cars, cups or toilet bowls. The aim is to prove the versatility of the motif.
In cooperation with Karl Gröner GmbH and SEW-Akademie, viscom is looking for a convincing overall concept. In addition to the creative quality of the design, the consistency of the overall concept as applied to different media will be a decisive factor. The design must be effective in ten different forms: as a full and a partial car wrap, on a sticker, as a wrap for a toilet, on a printed poster, on glass, in a light box, as textile print and transfer as well as on a china cup. The participants will supply the appropriate layout, while the practical implementation on the various media will be carried out by viscom. After having been chosen by a jury consisting of the main sponsors of the event, the three best design ideas will be presented in a special show at the fair to be judged by the visitors. The latter will then chose the overall winner who may expect valuable prizes. “We would like to leave judging the entries to our visitors”, says Christian Hruschka, Project Manager of viscom. “Ultimately, the Designmaker shows the enormous range of visual communication. Who could be in a better position to judge these than the expert visitors coming to our fair who are at home in a wide range of fields, in techniques and processes, in marketing and implementation, in design and layout.”
Designs may be submitted shortly on www.viscom-messe.com. Applications close on 1 October 2010.
