Offset Printing

Sophisticated sheetfed technology for Brazil

The KBA Rapida 75C is the ideal entry-level press for small-scale printers

Friday 11. June 2010 - KBA at Expoprint 2010 in São Paulo

Following a successful premiere in 2006, the second Expoprint trade fair will take place from 23 to 29 June at São Paulo’s Transamérica Expo Center. The Koenig & Bauer group (KBA) and its Brazilian agencies Deltagraf Representações Comerciais and Global Sistemas Gráficos will be showing a high-performance B1 (41in) Rapida 106 alongside a B2 (29in) Rapida 75C (C = commercial) on stand B48 in hall C. Live demonstrations of diverse print jobs will be given on both presses. KBA is also a strong contender in the commercial web press market, and specialists from Germany and Brazil will be on hand to answer prospects’ queries.

KBA Rapida 106 a big attraction
Expoprint will see the Latin American debut of KBA’s 18,000sph Rapida 106, the makeready world champion in B1 that turned heads at Drupa 2008 and Ipex 2010. The model exhibited will be a five-colour coater version with extended delivery and a raft of automation modules including DriveTronic Feeder with dedicated drives, sidelay-free DriveTronic SIS infeed, automatic plate changers and a height-adjustable nonstop roller facility in the delivery. The coater features a Harris & Bruno doctoring system. Quick-action clamps and semi-automatic changers for the coating plates cut changing time to around two minutes. ErgoTronic ACR automatic colour register control with video sensor and DensiTronic density measurement and control help minimise makeready while maintaining a uniformly high print quality. CIP data is transferred online from pre-press via LogoTronic. The Rapida 106 at the show will print football posters – a given in Brazil during the World Cup – plus Formula 1 posters and postcards.

KBA Rapida 75C the cost-effective alternative in small format
Built by KBA-Grafitec and distributed in Brazil by Global Sistemas Gráficos in São Paulo, the 13,000sph Rapida 75C targets smaller printshops with limited budgets. The press at Expoprint will be a four-colour version. Global Sistemas Gráficos also distributes KBA-Metronic’s compact B3 (20in) Genius 52UV which can handle a broad range of substrates from paper and board to 0.8mm (0.03in) film. However, this greener waterless offset press with anilox keyless inking units will not be exhibited at the show due to lack of space.

On a growth curve with new agency
São Paulo-based Deltagraf Representações Comerciais became a KBA agency in 2007 and got off to a flying start. In spring 2009 its remit was extended to sheetfed, and managing director Luiz Cesar Dutra and his 21 staff soon clocked up a string of sales. Web press contracts include several Compacta commercial presses and two Comet newspaper presses for Oceano in Cajamar, Editora Escala and Editora Abril in São Paulo. In recent months six-colour Rapida 105 coater presses shipped to Innovapack Embalagens in Itaquaquecetuba and Emibra Indústria e Comercio de Embalagens in Suzano. A Rapida 130a four-colour perfector will be delivered this month to Gráfica e Editora Brasil in Brasilia. KBA technology has always enjoyed a high reputation among Brazilian printers, and KBA is confident that Expoprint will bring new contacts and more orders.
