FINAT Congress to Inspire Label Industry with Creative and Innovative Business Themes
Wednesday 21. April 2010 - FINAT, the world wide association for self-adhesive label industry, has finalised the programme of its Congress 2010. The congress is being held in Valencia (Spain) from 9-12 June.
“The self-adhesive labelling industry has matured and is gradually shifting from a manufacturing to a solutions oriented industry. To create profitable growth for the future, companies need to understand the new market dynamics required and address new and untapped potential that lies in value innovation, improved customer service, creativity and sustainability,” says Andrea Vimercati, FINAT President.

Outlines for the FINAT Congress 2010
More future and outward looking perspectives will be provided on the second day (June 10th). Congress moderator, Paul de Ruijter (NL) of De Ruijter Strategy brings an overall introduction on the themes of creativity and innovation. Under the title Toward One Packaging Sustainability Language, key note speaker Sonia Raja, Head of Packaging at Tesco and Co-Chair of the Global Packaging Project, will inform the delegates about the features of this project, that brings together the worlds leading brands and retailers and the related packaging supply chain, and the implications this project holds for the combined sector’s sustainability agenda. Following this, Jules Lejeune presents the annual review of trends and developments in self-adhesive materials demand in Europe, based on FINATs quarterly statistics of the consumption self-adhesive materials across the region.
As the congress takes place in Spain, FINAT has invited Iban Cid, former FINAT President, board member of the Spanish label association ANFEC and managing director of Germark S.A., to bring additional insight on the local label market. In the afternoon, Jürgen Convent, Corporate Vice President Global Marketing & Innovation Industrial Adhesives Division of Henkel (D), will outline his companys vision on corporate social responsibility and sustainability. Nigel Barlow of the Tom Peters Group further explores the message of creative re-thinking from his latest book, “Re-think: How to think differently.”
Day two closes with the greatly attended and much appreciated FINAT Label Awards Ceremony, honouring the end-users and brand winners of this years competition. These winners go through to the finals of the World Label Awards.
On the closing day of the FINAT congress (June 11th), Frank Gerace, President and CEO of Multicolor and Chairman of FINATs American counterpart TLMI, testifies on how innovation and business diversification has helped his company to gain success, profitability and global footprint in a highly competitive market.
Following Geraces presentation, participants can attend the industry round table, featuring a panel of industry executives and opinion leaders representing various markets, including health and beauty care, household chemicals, food and beverage. They will present their view on the current status and future development of the label industry in these respective sectors.
Adjiedj Bakas, Global Trendwatcher, advises companies and governmental departments on the translation of megatrends in society into concrete experiences. In his presentation, Bakas will describe how underlying drivers will determine and shape the future in the decades to come, a visionary, inspirational and concluding note of the programme of FINAT congress 2010 edition.
To stimulate dialogue and interaction as well as to promote networking, FINAT has again incorporated a hospitality programme that will stimulate delegates, old and new to get in contact with their peers. “One of the cornerstones in FINATs strategy for the coming years is continuously positioning FINAT as a collaborative platform, in Europe, our home base, and beyond.
