The New York Times Launches International Weekly In Bosnia And El Salvador

Tuesday 02. March 2010 - The New York Times announced today the launch of its international news supplement in Dnevni Avaz in Bosnia and La Prensa Gráfica in El Salvador. The two publications join a global network of newspapers in 29 countries that carry The New York Times international weekly, first introduced in 2002.

The weekly section, which is published in these papers in English and Spanish respectively, provides readers with a selection of articles from The New York Times. The supplement retains the layout and typography of The New York Times and includes news coverage, features, commentary, color photos and graphics covering politics, world affairs, business, culture, style and social trends. It is prepared in New York by The New York Times News Service.

Fahrudin Radoncic, a journalist from the former Yugoslavia , founded the weekly publication Bošnja?ki Avaz i n 1993. It later became the daily Dnevni Avaz in 1995. Dnevni Avaz is owned by the Avaz Roto Press Company, which publishes more than 40 newspapers and periodicals. The newspaper is distributed throughout Bosnia and in 15 other European countries.

La Prensa Gráfica was founded in 1915 by Don Jose Dutriz. Today, the newspaper is owned by Grupo Dutriz, which also publishes El Gráfico, a daily sports newspaper, and several magazines including Ella, Motor and Blur. La Prensa Gráfica is headquartered outside of San Salvador in Antiguo Cuscatlán and is distributed nationally throughout El Salvador.
The New York Times News Service, which produces The New York Times international weekly, provides more than 200 articles daily from all sections of The Times to more than 600 news organizations in 50 countries.
