Three new FISCHER & KRECKE high-speed wide web presses for Excelsior Packaging Group
Wednesday 14. October 2009 - The Excelsior Packaging Group, Inc. and FISCHER & KRECKE GmbH are pleased to announce that Excelsior Packaging Group has entered into contracts for three (3) additional printing presses of the type FP 36S-10.
The presses will include the latest FISCHER & KRECKE advancements, one of which is smartGPS (Graphic Positioning System), a technological world first in flexographic printing. Excelsior Packaging Group and FISCHER & KRECKE continue their successful relationship and lead in the development of new technologies; the dynamically growing flexible packaging specialist Excelsior is pleased to have purchased FISCHER & KRECKEs high performance equipment including smartGPS technology, allowing instant job startup with the least impression and registration related set up required in the industry.
smartGPS sets a fundamentally new standard when it comes to registration and impression setting to the point that it is even hard to find an appropriate technical term to describe the technology. What is commonly understood by impression setting does not accurately describe this new breakthrough, because smartGPS does not perform the set-up in the press. In fact smartGPS is able to do the job “offline” at the plate mounting stage with almost no additional time required when the plates are mounted on the press.
With smartGPS technology, the print setting is already finalized before the job has even entered the press. That means once the sleeves are put in the press, the machine can immediately be accelerated to production speed and print with the correct impression and register, literally ‘from the first impression’. The result is waste reduced to next to zero and low speed pre drying issues are completely avoided. One more advantage over conventional systems is that smartGPS also works on coatings or lacquers, that have no contrast with the background substrate, without any restrictions.
