Sonoco-Alcore to Increase European Paperboard Prices

Tuesday 25. August 2009 - Sonoco-Alcore S.a.r.l. today announced it will raise prices by 40 Euro or £30 per metric ton on all recycled paperboard grades in Europe. The price change is effective with shipments on or after September 14, 2009.

According to Eddie L. Smith, vice president—Sonoco Europe, the price increase is necessary to manage higher costs associated with recovered paper and energy, as well as significantly reduced inventories of coreboard across Europe. “While we have made every effort to manage costs in our paper mill operations, inflationary expenses such as these have left us little choice but to implement this increase,” he said.
