The New York Times Expands Distribution In Nashville Area
Monday 17. August 2009 - New Print Site Agreement with The Tennessean
The New York Times announced today that it has entered into an agre em ent with The Tennessean to print The Times at their printing plant in Nashville , Tenn.
The agreement, to take effect this Sunday for Monday’s newspaper, will enable The Times to extend newsstand and home delivery, both weekday and Sunday, to readers in the Nashville area and to better serve existing markets in the surrounding areas of Tennessee and northern Alabama, northern Mississippi, eastern Arkansas and western Kentucky.
“This new agreement with The Tennessean underscores The Times’s commitment to provide high-quality journalism to more readers in more markets throughout North America ,” said Scott Heekin-Canedy, president and general manager of The New York Times.
The Tennessean currently prints more than 20 commercial publications on three multi-web presses. “It’s an honor to be part of the production effort of a great national newspaper,” said Ellen Leifeld, publisher of The Tennessean. “This is one more step in the diversification of our business, complementing our variety of local news products and services.”
With the addition of the Nashville site, The New York Times will be printed at 26 locations in North America: Chicago, Ill.; Gardenia, Calif.; Deerfield Beach, Fla.; Austin, Tex.; Seattle, Wash.; Canton, Ohio; Concord, Calif.; Atlanta, Ga.; Springfield, Va.; Boston, Mass.; Lakeland, Fla.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Denver, Colo.; Princeton, Minn.; Gastonia, N.C.; Dayton, Ohio; Ann Arbor, Mich.; Columbia, Mo.; Toronto, Ontario; Houston, Tex; Dallas, Tex.; Salt Lake City, Utah, Philadelphia, Pa. and Santa Fe, N.M. The New York edition is printed in Queens , N.Y.
