Lee appoints director of corporate taxes
Monday 08. June 2009 - Patricia A. Williamson, director of global taxes for The NutraSweet Company, will join Lee Enterprises, Incorporated (NYSE: LEE), as director of corporate taxes.
Carl Schmidt, Lee vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, said she will oversee all aspects of tax planning and compliance activities. He said the appointment is effective June 22.
“As a public company with operations spanning 53 markets in 23 states, Lee requires strong tax leadership to meet continually growing complexities of local, state and federal requirements. Patty brings the necessary high level of experience and expertise, with an impressive record of accomplishments over 17 years as a senior tax executive,” Schmidt said.
Williamson has led worldwide tax activities for NutraSweet, based in Augusta, Georgia, since 2006. She also has held senior tax leadership positions at Ruan Transportation Management Systems in Des Moines, Iowa; Vermeer Manufacturing Co. in Pella, Iowa; and Deloitte & Touche, LLP, in Des Moines.
She is a certified public accountant in Iowa and Georgia and summa cum laude graduate in accounting and business administration from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
Among professional activities, she has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Iowa Society of CPA’s and The Tax Executives Institute.
She and her family plan to relocate to the Quad-City area soon.
