O-I Announces New Chief Strategy Officer
Thursday 26. March 2009 - Greg Sipla to drive execution of O-I's strategic priorities
Owens-Illinois, Inc., (NYSE:OI) announces that Greg Sipla has been named vice president and chief strategy officer.
Mr. Sipla will be responsible for the development of O-I’s long-term strategy through his establishment and leadership of an office of strategic management. He also will lead O-I’s efforts to enter markets and businesses not currently pursued by the company and will provide analytical insight and support for growth in markets and businesses where the company currently competes.
“O-I is in the process of enhancing its position as the leader in the global glass packaging industry. We see Greg as key in driving our strategies on a global basis,” said Jim Baehren, senior vice president of strategic planning and general counsel. “Greg brings many years of experience in these areas and we look forward to having him on our team.”
Mr. Sipla joins O-I from the Tupperware Brands Corporation, where he served as vice president of strategy and business development. Previously, he held strategic planning positions at Constellation Brands, Accenture, Siemens Medical Systems and Anheuser-Busch.
