SpringDot Continues Fifteen-Year Komori Tradition with Installation of Six-Color Lithrone S40
Wednesday 04. March 2009 - Komori America Corporation, a premier manufacturer of sheetfed and web offset printing presses, today announced that SpringDot has recently installed a six-color, Lithrone S40 (LS640) with coating capabilities at its facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
SpringDot, a fourth generation family owned business established in 1904, specializes in high quality general commercial printing. A loyal Komori user for the past fifteen years, SpringDot chose the LS640 to replace an older model manroland press. Key drivers in selecting the LS640 were its advanced automation, which allows for a 50 percent reduction in the companys makeready time and increased print quality for all applications.
“After reviewing what was on the market, we knew the Komori LS640 fit our needs perfectly,” said Joshua Deutsch, president and CEO of SpringDot. “We have a consistent demand for high quality, short run work, so the fast makereadies offered by the Komori press are ideal.”
Because speed has always been so vital to the SpringDot philosophy, Deutsch notes that the most significant benefits of the LS640 are the dependability and decreased turnaround time. “In the printing industry, dependability is huge,” said Deutsch. “We installed the Komori press, and we found a typical job that took about sixteen hours on our old press now takes only eight hours on the LS640. With this 50 percent increase in production, we can do so many more jobs per shift.” This productivity enhancement is partially due to the LS640s automatic ink film adjustment system and console-driven makeready designed for operational ease-of-use.
“Speed, energy, and print quality are the foundation of SpringDots reputation,” said Mark Hopkins, regional manager for Komoris Eastern Region. “Its gratifying to provide the company with a press that supports these impressive objectives.”
