Tieto to deliver new customer information system to Vantaa Energy

Wednesday 21. January 2009 - Tieto will deliver a customer information and billing system to Vantaa Energy. The new online solution gives customers the opportunity to manage their energy account via the internet 24/7. Additionally, customers have access to more diverse and up-to-date information. Also meter readings will be automatically included in the energy bill.

Vantaa Energy’s new system package enables the utilization of online service channels and automatic meter reading to automate operations. Additionally, the functionalities required by the separation of electricity sales and transmission are taken into consideration in the system. The aim is to deploy Vantaa Energy’s new system in early autumn 2010. Tieto also supplied the energy company’s previous customer information system.

“We want to invest strongly in online services. Today’s young people will make their first electric agreement online,” believes Vantaa Energy’s ICT Manager Juha Niemi. Vantaa Energy decided on the service solution offered by Tieto after an extensive market analysis. The search for a partner took two years. “We wanted a supplier with a track record of successful projects. Security and reliability are priorities for us,” Niemi says.

“Our delivery is a continuation of the successful and long-term cooperation with Vantaa Energy. Our new solutions will help the customer take full advantage of self-service and remote meter-reading,” says Mikko Tuomi, Director, Tieto.
