Krause LS Jet 350 wins the pole position of CTP speed

Krause launches CTP product enhancements for the LS Jet platform with a record breaking speed of 350pph.

Monday 15. December 2008 - Krause launches CTP product enhancements for the LS Jet platform with a record breaking speed of 350pph.

With up to 350 plates per hour, the new LS Jet 350 is by far the fastest CTP Violet platesetter in the market. Complemented by the Krause BlueFin processor in standard or chemical-free version, the LS Jet line proofs that Violet is just the best CTP technology for newspapers when it comes to speed, quality, economy, environmentally friendly and reliable production.
A Violet CTP platesetter highlight – the Krause LS Jet 350 ñ was presented at Ifra 08 with latest achievements in data throughput, Violet laser diodes and spinner speed.
ìSince its introduction in 2002, for us the LS Jet is the technology platform for newest components in Violet CTP platesetting. The new LS Jet 350 gains more speed with a faster polygon, a quicker NetLink Data interface and an optional 160 mW Violet Laserî, states Dipl.-Ing. Thomas Richter ñ Technical Director at Krause.
Whereas other systems use multiple plates on the table during exposure or even multiple laser heads to achieve speed with their imaging devices and unneccessarily complicate the whole CTP plate production process, Krause just uses a simple, straight forward and very reliable way to handle the plates. One plate is loaded and exposed at the time in the best exposure orientation with only one imaging head and single point alignment, which perfectly matches the register of the punch bender. The trolley loading is the most flexible kind of plate handling. The machine can run multiple sizes and of course resolutions for newspaper and semicommercial application in one system. So the LS Jet is a very efficient way to produce a high volume of newspaper plates at low life cycle costs. The BlueFin with its small energy consumption and low operating costs make a Krause system a very economical and reliable CTP line.

Although 350 plates per hour might stay a theoretical value for a certain time frame as punch benders cannot cope with this speed, the real production speed increases as newspapers show a tendency to go to higher resolutions and screen rulings in order to increase their print quality and attract quality advertising. And if you can produce at 1,270 dpi approx. 300 plates per hour, you can fully benefit from more output per CTP line as the platesetter, processor and punch bender run at that speed. The result is that bigger newspapers need less CTP lines or with a given number of CTP lines we are able to provide 25% more capacity as our competitors, which means a 15 minutes later editorial deadline. So it is only logical that the LS Jet is the best selling high speed device over the last two years.
