Brown Printing Company Furthers Environmental Commitment with SoySeal Certification

Monday 03. November 2008 - As part of its robust environmental program, Brown Printing Company is proud to announce the achievement of SoySeal Certification by the American Soybean Association at their Waseca and East Coast Ink facilities.

According to Marianne Cavanaugh, Manager of Waseca Ink, “The SoySeal Certification ensures that Brown’s inks are produced using stringent amounts of soy and vegetable oils and furthers the high standards we already have in place for our inks.” Brown’s ink facilities manufacture inks that contain no heavy metals, are non-toxic, non-carcinogenic and are composed of bio-derived renewable resources ranging from 25-30%. “The SoySeal certification will allow our customers to apply the SoySeal mark to their publications and catalogs. This mark will let consumers know their product meets the high standards of the American Soybean Association and were printed using soy inks.”

This achievement adds to the growing number of environmental initiatives and certifications at Brown. Brown has also been awarded the FSC (SGS-COC-004541), SFI (NCS-SFICOC-118) and PEFC chain-of-custody certifications. These globally recognized and accepted certifications allow Brown’s customers to choose certified paper for all of their printed materials.

Brown is an industry leader and early adopter of many other environmental friendly practices. For more information on Brown’s wide range of initiatives and environmental programs, please refer to Brown’s environmental presentation at www.bpc.com.
