A week without trash cans for Cascades employees
Friday 24. October 2008 - For the Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets (waste reduction week), which will be held on October 19-26, Cascades has made a significant move by withdrawing individual trash cans from its offices all across Québec.
The company wants to raise the awareness of its employees regarding the quantity of waste they generate every day, as well as incite them to implement the 3R-R principle on a daily basis.
Furthermore, employees who work in the production units in Kingsey Falls, the birthplace of Cascades, will be visited during their lunch hour by the mobile recycling team, spearheaded by the students of the Centre de formation en entreprise et récupération (CFER) located in Victoriaville, who will advise them on the best methods to adopt to reduce waste.
Cascades is proud to be the largest paper collector in Canada. “We believe it is important to have our employees contribute to the reduction of our ecological footprint as well as maintain our leadership role with regards to sustainable development”, declared Alain Lemaire, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Cascades is proud to be associated with the 8th edition of the Semaine québécoise de réduction des déchets (waste reduction week). For a third consecutive year, Cascades will provide Action-Rebuts with Rolland Enviro100 paper, composed of 100% recycled fibres, to print their colourful posters.
