ClassWizard integrates page-planning system with Quark Publishing System for automated media production
Wednesday 22. October 2008 - With ClassWizard and Quark Publishing System, production processes become more efficient and more cost-effective. The XML-based ClassWizard can also be used with Quark Dynamic Publishing Solution.
Quark Inc. announced today that ClassWizard, a QuarkAlliance partner, will integrate its page-planning system of the same name with Quark Publishing System (QPS), Quarks editorial workflow system. This combined solution is currently being implemented and is scheduled to be presented at ClassWizards stand at IFRA 2008 in Amsterdam (booth 10620). ClassWizard is an XML-based planning, makeup, and output system used by daily and weekly newspapers and magazine publishers. With ClassWizard and QPS, the publishing workflows can be automated in both directions, reducing redundancies in the production process and simplifying collaboration between editorial staff, advertising departments, and production planners.
QPS allows staff to create and manage editorial content, while ClassWizard plans, links, and positions advertisements and editorial sections, and the entire page of advertising and editorial content can be submitted to the output workflow. For editorial staff, advertising departments, and production planners, this means that objects can now be automatically positioned and displayed on pages, making it possible to transfer content to a central printing and design structure for all employees. With one click, users can create corresponding files for QPS and automatically assign the correct task to the respective contact person in QPS. QPS and ClassWizard are constantly synchronized in the workflow. With the ability to track editorial changes and control the positioning of advertisements simultaneously, a high degree of reliability and flexibility is guaranteed in the production process, ensuring that the people involved in the workflow are always using up-to-date information and content.
Based on open standards, ClassWizard and QPS easily integrate with existing software components in the production process. Java and XML ensure cross-platform functionality.
