Offset Printing
Rapida 205 at Impression Polska
Wednesday 08. October 2008 - Official inauguration of first VLF Rapida in Poland
September saw the official inauguration at Warsaw-based Impression Polska of Polands first KBA Rapida 205 VLF offset litho press attended by over 200 customers (outdoor and indoor advertising agencies, publishers), suppliers, employees and fellow printers.
Delivered at the beginning of August, Impression Polskas new four-colour Rapida with a CX board printing capability had already passed its baptism by fire pumping out numerous displays and billboards. Although it is the first 9B (80in) press in Poland, KBA has sold 40 Rapida 205 press lines worldwide and is the only press vendor offering models for formats in excess of two metres (78 inches).
The high level of attendance at the inauguration reflects widespread interest in Polands one and only VLF installation, which attracted prospects not only from Poland but also from Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic States. Not surprisingly, the first jobs printed on the new Rapida 205 were for Russian and Lithuanian companies.
In his opening address, Impression Polska sales director Tomasz Skrzypkowski outlined the most important features of the press: its unique print format, the ability to print substrates up to 1.2mm thick (48pt) at a speed of 9,000 sheets per hour, its highly advanced QualiTronic Professional quality measurement and control, ColorTronic colour control and easy Windows-based operation.
There followed a press demonstration during which the first “official” sheet printed on the new KBA Rapida 205 was signed by Impression Polska managing director Andrzej Grudzinski, KBA sales director Sven Strzelczyk, KBA-Polska regional sales manager Miroslawa Becker, Swapan Chaudhuri and Agnieszka Poczekaj of Kodak Polska (which supplied a large-format CTP system) and Wojciech Kaczorowski of Deutsche Leasing Polska (which helped arrange funding).
On behalf of KBA, Sven Strzelczyk and Miroslawa Becker presented a scale model of the Rapida 205 to Impression Polska managing director Andrzej Grudzinski, with their best wishes for the companys continued success in Polands fast-growing large-format market.
Celebrations continued at Fabryka Trzciny, a well-known Warsaw club, where the evening entertainment was provided in Al Capone style by Five oclock, supported by vocal band Des Singers, one of whose members, Daniel Koper, works closely with Impression Polska in an advisory capacity
