Geoff Reiss Joins Newsweek in New Position of General Manager, Newsweek Digital

Thursday 11. September 2008 - Will Oversee All Digital Operations at Newsweek

Geoff Reiss will join Newsweek in the newly-created position of General Manager, Newsweek Digital, Newsweek Chief Executive Officer Tom Ascheim announced Wednesday. In this position, Reiss will have responsibility for all things digital, including strategy, operations, technology, traffic development and design. He starts September 15.

“Geoff brings a multitude of talents and rich experience to Newsweek,” Ascheim said. “He will be instrumental in helping us continue to transform Newsweek into a modern, multi-platform media company.”

Reiss comes to Newsweek from Associated Content, where he was CEO since July 2007. Before that, he spent eight years at ESPN in a variety of roles including Senior Vice President, programming, production and operations for ESPN.com, Senior Vice President ESPN Original Content, Senior Vice President, ESPN Consumer Products and General Manager, ESPN Magazine. Before his ESPN career, Reiss was at Starwave/ESPN Internet Ventures for seven years as Senior Vice President, programming and production, Vice President and director of sports publishing.

From 1987-1993, Reiss worked at SPY Magazine, ending his tenure there as Vice President, General Manager.
