ABBYY USA Appoints Rick Pierson as Director of Business Development
Tuesday 05. August 2008 - ABBYY, a leading provider of document recognition, data capture and linguistic software, today announced that it has hired Rick Pierson as director of business development for ABBYY USA.
Rick will be responsible for serving as a direct liaison between the company and prospective partners, managing existing customer relationships, and carefully analyzing business and customer needs to generate new revenue streams.
Rick will use his more than 20 years of experience in establishing and maintaining top dollar accounts for leading communications technology companies to help create and further expand licensing deals for ABBYY development tools and mobile applications with cell phone manufacturers and application developers. Coordinating closely with internal departments, Rick will play a pivotal role during negotiations, and will develop and maintain contracts and legal documentation for new business.
As a dynamic business developer and strategic planner, Rick is an expert at defining market strategy and establishing brand recognition. Rick joins ABBYY from Immersion Corp, where he served as the director of business development for mobility and gaming. As the primary public interface within the wireless and mobile industry, Rick spearheaded market development and partnering strategy for the Immersion emerging flagship mobility product, focusing on penetrating over 50 new accounts within the Global 1000. During his time with Immersion, Rick facilitated business deals with industry leaders including Microsoft, Logitech, LG and Nokia. His extensive executive management background also includes positions with NexTone, MediaRing and ipVerse.
