Rhona Murphy Promoted to Publisher and Managing Director of Newsweek International

Thursday 31. July 2008 - Rhona Murphy has been promoted to Publisher and Managing Director of Newsweek International, Newsweek Chief Executive Officer Tom Ascheim announced. "Rhona brings great strengths to this job: keen intelligence, knowledge of our business, competitive insight and a willingness to navigate the globe," Ascheim said.

Murphy has been publisher of Newsweek International since 2006, running sales and marketing for the overseas editions and Newsweek.com internationally. In her new role, she adds circulation, finance and local-languages partnerships to her duties. She will have full responsibility for all aspects of Newsweek’s business outside the United States.
Murphy joined Newsweek as an Associate Publisher, Director of International Sales in 2002. Prior to that she had been at the Dow Jones Company, where she was the managing director for North American sales for Dow Jones International.
Her management experience also includes three years as sales and marketing director for Dow Jones in Southeast Asia, while she was based in Singapore, and two years as international sales manager for The Wall Street Journal in New York.
Murphy began her career at News International in London in 1988, where she was a sales representative and then a group head, at The Times of London until 1993. She is a graduate of Trinity College in Dublin.
