Graphic Packaging Launches “Starts Natural Stays Natural” Paperboard Packaging Website
Tuesday 29. July 2008 - Graphic Packaging International, Inc., a subsidiary of Graphic Packaging Holding Company (NYSE:GPK), announced today that it has launched a public website, www.startsnaturalstaysnatural.com, to provide the layperson with environmental information about paperboard that is clear and easy to understand.
“The environmental impact of packaging material is very important to our customers and consumers. Relevant data on paperboard has been limited and is often confusing,” states Andy Johnson, Graphic Packagings Director of Sustainability. “We developed a public website that is intentionally easy to understand and educates both customers and consumers about the environmental value inherent in paperboard packaging. After reviewing this site, we believe customers and consumers will better understand the sustainable benefits paperboard packaging brings to our environment.”
The new StartsNaturalStaysNatural website explains the life cycle of fiber, starting with trees as a renewable natural resource and including the package life cycle, where fiber becomes reusable or recyclable material for continued commercial use. The new website also describes how forests are managed and provide additional data for frequently asked questions. Additionally, links to other sites that provide information on environmental concerns for paper and paperboard packaging are included for viewer convenience.
“Sustainability is an important principle at Graphic Packaging because it drives both our product innovation initiatives and our values as a business,” said Andy Johnson. “Launching the public StartsNaturalStaysNatural website will help consumers know how to choose responsible packaging solutions in the marketplace.”
