Seiko I Infotech Inc. (SIIT) and Seiko Instruments Europe (SIE) Unveils the “ColorTextiler 64DS”, the oil-based dye-sublimation transfer printer

Wednesday 02. July 2008 - Seiko Instruments Europe S.A announced today that it will introduce a new 64-inch, 4-color oil-based dye-sublimation transfer inkjet printer named the "ColorTextiler 64DS" at the upcoming Fespa Digital show, Geneva, Switzerland, Apr. 1 - Apr. 3, 2008.

The ColorTextiler 64DS utilizes a special new oil-based dye-sublimation ink, which was specifically designed and matched to textile application, offering advanced features. Since there is no water contained in ink, it eliminates cockling on transfer paper, which allows faster printing while maintaining high image quality. Less cockling also eliminates any risk for the head damage. No water in ink also allows users to transfer image immediately to fabric after printing on transfer paper, there is no need to wait for a long time before ink dry unlike water-based dye-sublimation inkjet printers available today in market.
The ColorTextiler 64DS can print on media up to 64″ wide (162 cm) and includes an automated take-up system. It accomplishes the high speed of 10 square meter per hour at 720 DPI x 540DPI (with 6 passes) by using 4 Seiko piezo print heads. The new ink provides longer light fastness on polyester fabrics than typical water base dye-sublimation ink available today.
The transfer papers from major paper manufactures are available in market, and major RIP software manufactures have expressed support for this printer, and will release products supporting the ColorTextiler 64DS prior to the products expected shipping date of Jun. 15, 2008.
The ColorTextiler 64DS will be debuted at the Fespa Digital in Geneva, Switzerland, Apr. 1 – Apr. 3, 2008 in booth #. E30
