Product To Pallet Coding Innovations From Domino At PPMA 2008

Domino M600 print & apply labeller for pallets

Friday 20. June 2008 - Domino UK will be showcasing its most innovative products for primary, secondary and tertiary coding at PPMA 2008.

Making their UK debut will be additions to Domino’s unique C-Series plus range of outer case coders, a linerless version of its M-Series print & apply labeller and the new D-Series plus laser coding range. In addition, the V300+ thermal transfer printer will be demonstrated with both 2″ and 5″ printheads and, from the world’s best-selling range of continuous ink jet printers, the Domino A200+ will be on show, as well as further additions to Domino’s M-Series print & apply labelling range.

New and unique product additions to Domino’s C-Series portfolio this year firmly underscore the company’s position as a leading provider of secondary coding products that meet long term market needs and deliver increased efficiency. Foremost, to be shown at PPMA, is the new C6000AS plus, a revolutionary product, capable of printing on adjacent sides of a box. Its introduction addresses widespread demand for more efficient use of both equipment and production floor space by synchronising two coding operations via a single print head. The first coder to offer this configuration, the C6000AS plus provides easier set-up, faster production start-up and more efficient management of consumables.

Also representing this range will be the C6000+. Printing high quality alphanumeric codes and graphics directly onto outer cases, Domino’s range of C-Series plus coders is especially designed to contribute to increased overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), flexibility and profitability, whilst meeting the compliance requirements of the whole supply chain. Offering double the print performance and double the speed of any competing product, the C6000+ addresses market demands for increased efficiency on high speed lines, achieving a print resolution of 180 dpi at up to 60m per/min. It also boasts a clearer and more intuitive user interface, high-speed communications and Ethernet connectivity for easier integration into printing lines, as well as the lowest power consumption of any outer case coder on the market.

Domino’s M-Series range of print and apply labellers is set to create a stir with the launch of a linerless model – the M500 – that responds to waste reduction and productivity improvement targets in equal measure. The elimination of backing for the self-adhesive labels means that waste is radically reduced and the labeller can run for twice as long between roll changes.

The M-Series comprises a fully modular system of printers, applicators and accessories, which provide label application flexibility to meet every customer requirement for printing variable data, text, graphics and RFID data onto outer cases. Delivering accurate information and label placement without compromising production line speeds, the M-Series range ensures maximum productivity, flexibility and profitability; and includes thermal transfer and direct thermal label printers in both left and right hand versions. These combine with a range of blow, tamp, tamp and blow and wipe label applicators for optimal performance and operation.

The next generation of Domino’s acclaimed line-up of laser coding systems, the D-Series plus will be launched at PPMA. Boasting a choice of 10-, 30- and 55-watt lasers, the D-Series plus builds on the Domino reputation for quality and reliability in high-end coding applications in the food, beverage, pharma and cosmetics sectors. Key features of the range are a new modular construction, new browser-based control software plus an Ethernet interface to standardise connectivity with host machines.

Another first for Domino is the integration of a 5″ printhead on its highly efficient V300+ thermal transfer printer (TTO) for all flexible packaging applications. The versatile V300+ is ideal for use in high volume manufacturing environments. Achieving a print resolution of 300dpi, it is capable of applying sharp, high quality variable data including text, bar codes, Data Matrix codes as well as logos onto a wide range of web materials. Delivering a new concept in TTO, the V300+ does not require a dedicated controller but can be operated from any PC-based user interface running a standard internet browser.

From the A-Series plus range will be the A200+ model, coding on to chocolate boxes. This ever-popular range of continuous ink jet (CIJ) printers is a user-friendly coding solution satisfying market requirements for a robust and dependable solution that improves OEE and availability. In conjunction with Domino’s extensive inks range, the A-Series plus offers quality ink jet printing from basic coding requirements to tough industrial applications in harsh environments.

Nick Horne, UK Sales Director for Domino, says that the new products being launched at PPMA underline the company’s commitment to offering product to pallet coding solutions across a wide range of industries. “With the growing emphasis on data acquisition and traceability, coding and marking has become a core function of the packaging operation. As such, our equipment needs to offer tangible productivity benefits and improved OEE to our customers. We’re confident that every one of the Domino products at PPMA more than delivers in this respect.”
