Nation-wide rollout at Grupo Editorial Milenio, innovative Mexican newspaper publisher
Monday 16. June 2008 - Grupo Editorial Milenio has begun the rollout of Smart Connection Enterprise from WoodWing Software. Enterprise will be installed in the newspapers and magazines of the Grupo Milenio to serve as the platform for productivity gains and new media functionality.
Enterprise met Milenio’s requirements for publishing management features, open-source architecture, local support, world-class references, and cost-effective economics. Adrian Loaiza, Systems Director for Grupo Milenio commented: “Woodwing has an impressive record of success with large magazine groups worldwide, and newspaper segment leadership in Mexico. WoodWing’s trajectory in blended media is essential for the emerging news environment.”
The group commitment came after two years experience at Fama Magazine and six months experience at La Opinion|Milenio in Torréon. In the next phase Enterprise will be installed at Milenio newspapers in Monterrey, Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Tampico, as well as magazines in Mexico City and Monterrey.
The project is managed by Epyx Media Systems, a WoodWing Gold Authorized Solution Partner. Epyx CTO Emanuel Infante has participated in more than 30 newspaper and magazine launches over 20 years in the industry, and he views the Milenio project as a career highlight. “Milenio has a track record for innovation and efficiency that serves as a foundation for its national newspaper success,” he said, “and this project allows us to focus on enhancing both quality and efficiency in their multiple media contexts.”
