Tempo in new print world record!
Sunday 08. June 2008 - Sappi's revolutionary, quick drying Tempo paper has been a major contributor to the successful world record attempt by Stuttgart-based printer Rösler Druck to print at least 103 different 1,000-sheet print jobs on a single offset press within a 24 hour period. The company set the new world record on Tuesday 27 May on a six-colour manroland ROLAND 700 DirectDrive press, achieving an amazing 169 plate changes!
Rösler Druck used typical commercial forms on Tempo Silk 150g/m2 printed on both sides, with a job change after every 1,000 good sheets. An on-site notary verified the print production process, checking sheet counter totals on the press, sheets printed and plates consumed.
Sappi specifically developed Tempo to offer printers increased productivity and faster job turnarounds. The paper’s new coating design (Sappi patents pending) provides a very smooth surface that delivers excellent printed results, very fast ink setting and drying, and superior scuff resistance. Printers can typically start printing the reverse side of a sheet after just 15 minutes and finishing can take place within 30 minutes. For most jobs there is no need to apply a protective varnish. The paper also enables printers to reduce use of anti set-off powder by between 50 to 75%, and sometimes up to 100%.
Printers who have not yet seen for themselves the incredible performance of Tempo have the chance to do so at Drupa on the manroland stand (Hall 6-D28) within PrintCity, as well as on Heidelberg presses in Hall 1.
