Gizmo And Airless Dispensing Headline RPC Know-How

RPC Bramlage-Wiko brings its full range of Magic Star airless dispensers to the Cosmetic Business Show 2008, along with the innovative Gizmo closure.

Sunday 08. June 2008 - RPC Bramlage-Wiko brings its full range of Magic Star airless dispensers to the Cosmetic Business Show 2008, along with the innovative Gizmo closure.

The Magic Star range is designed to ensure the controlled dosing and hygienic application of creams, gels and lotions for a variety of applications. Designed for maximum versatility, the Magic Star can handle products of many different viscosities, making it ideal for the personal care, cosmetic and pharmaceutical markets. The ingenious and easy-to-use airless dispensing system, which provides the required amount of product in one measure, has been validated by several leading companies.

The Magic Star system can be specified in a wide variety of sizes, materials and options to provide brands with individualised appearance for maximum on-shelf appearance. The standard Magic Star can be specified with two standard dispensing heads, including the new `Magic Soft` variant, whilst custom designs are also possible. For more unusual applications, RPC Bramlage-Wiko offers the slimline Magic SL and Magic Oval variants.

All three types can be further individualised to meet particular brand image and marketing objectives with extensive decoration options, such as silk screen, tampo and offset printing, hot stamping, labelling and sleeving.

The Magic Star family has been selected by a number of top brands, most recently by Boots for its new Boots No. 7 For Men range. Boots was keen to use packaging that could combine exceptional functionality with a strong image. “As a premium range, Boots No. 7 For Men needs differentiation, both from rival products on the market and also from the successful women`s range. We therefore wanted packaging designs that combined a masculine image with effective, no-fuss use that will dispense the right amount of product first time,” comments Steven Rolfe, Packaging Technologist at Boots. “After looking at the various options, we realised that the Magic Star range from RPC Bramlage-Wiko suited all of our needs,” he adds.

The Magic Star has been selected in a number of different sizes to suit the specific needs of four products in the range. A compact 50ml size is used for Gradual Tan Face SPF 15 and Anti Ageing Balm SPF 15. The 150ml variant has been specified for Anti Friction Shave Gel, while the larger 200ml size is ideal for Gradual Tan Body.

For another product in the range – Protect & Perfect Anti Ageing Serum – Boots recognised that the sister dispenser, the slimline Magic SL, would be ideal. This has been supplied in the smaller 30ml size.

All five products have been colour matched in pearlised gold and silk screen printed in three colours to provide the eye-catching effect seen across the Boots No. 7 For Men range.

In addition, RPC Bramlage-Wiko is showcasing its manufacture of a unique new packaging concept developed and patented by Gizmo Packaging Ltd. The GIZMO is a fully patented pressurised device, incorporated into the closure of a container, which instantly releases and mixes active ingredients at the point of use or consumption. When opened by a simple turn of the closure, the pressure in the chamber drives a jet of additive into the base product to create a vigorous mix that can deliver, for example, a dramatic colour change, a burst of aroma, a fresh taste – in all cases, a product ready for immediate use.

The new closure provides a host of product and marketing USPs for cosmetic or pharmaceutical applications. As well as the `Wow Factor` inherent in consumer participation, other major benefits include freshness (the ingredients are only mixed at the point of use or consumption) accurate dosing of the ingredient to be added, product protection and longer shelf life. The active ingredients are totally protected from UV light and oxygen.

RPC Bramlage-Wiko brings to the manufacture of the GIZMO its proven ability to transform intricate packaging concepts into highly functional final products. Injection moulding of the plastic components will be undertaken at RPC Bramlage`s specialised design and manufacturing facility in Lohne, Germany. With facilities throughout the world, RPC, who will continue to work closely with Gizmo on the requirements of individual customers, will be able to offer local production of the components as well as other specialist services.
