GMG Connect provides the missing link
Saturday 31. May 2008 - GMG Connect gives total control and connectivity to color management and proofing
GMG, supplier of high-end color management and proofing solutions, is to announce at Drupa its new product GMG Connect. GMG Connect links up GMG’s proofing and color management products to create a central, scalable color management workflow solution.
This networked and centrally controllable solution allows all process progress to be monitored at all times, permitting access to GMG installations at different locations via an intranet or the internet. GMG color management and proofing can be synchronized across all locations in order to guarantee consistent quality standards. GMG color management and proofing functions can be integrated into existing workflows and browser-based remote proofing and color management is also possible.
Individual jobs can be created in automated fashion on the basis of XML and XMP data. The installation of maintenance of dozens of different hot folders is a thing of the past.
At the heart of GMG Connect is the Connect Server, which is the control centre for information exchange and communicates with the individual connectors, GMG FlowConnect, GMG WebConnect and GMG o4 Connect.
GMG FlowConnect is the interface which links GMG Connect to external systems. The module allows the utilization of any desired XML formats for bidirectional machine-to-machine communication. It has flexible configuration options, making it possible to meet even the most demanding and unconventional requirements.
GMG WebConnect is the Web interface to the GMG Connect Server. Users can create proof and color management jobs directly from a Web browser and track them worldwide via WebConnect.
GMG o4 Connect is the interface between the Connect network and existing GMG software, such as GMG ColorServer or GMG ColorProof. GMG o4 Connect enables bidirectional communication between the GMG products and GMG Connect. Processing jobs from GMG Connect are downloaded and current status messages are sent back in real time. Because it is Web-based, jobs for the GMG software can be created from any Web browser, regardless of whether it is on a Windows, Macintosh or Linux computer.
GMG WebConnect can be used for true remote proofing. Locally stored data can be output on any printer that is connected to a GMG Connect network, no matter whether the printer is in the next room or another country.
GMG Connect is capable of connecting to almost any third-party programs. As a result, color management and proofing can be better automated and centrally controlled for the first time, plus administration and process monitoring require much less effort. GMG Connect can provide easy and efficient integration of GMG products into Kodak Prinergy, one of the most commonly used workflows in the graphic arts industry. To this end, there are solutions that work with or without the “Rules-Based Automation” Prinergy license.
The benefits of GMG Connect are available to all companies regardless of size. Large printing companies with highly automated workflows benefit from better workflow integration, automatic load balancing and simplified press control. Smaller printing businesses can simplify the use of ColorServer and InkOptimizer, saving time and gaining additional process reliability as a result of simple data handling. Also, print buyers and companies with several locations benefit from browser-based remote proofing and consistent results due to central administration of the proofing profiles.
