Snowdonia moves on to next stage of growth with a Suprasetter A74
Thursday 22. May 2008 - Jim Mowatts first move following the acquisition of Snowdonia Press is to buy a Suprasetter A74 computer to plate system.
Having assessed the production processes, Mr Mowatt quickly identified platemaking as a bottleneck. He believes that having an updated thermal CtP will allow everyone in the company to output plates easily while enhancing quality standards.
“At my digital company Bear Print we have a close relationship with Xerox. On the litho side Heidelberg is the name in the crowd. I like the Suprasetter because running it with Saphira Chem-Free plates will reduce many man hours spent processing. It improves efficiency and quality but I am investing not only in the machine but in the support and back up that Heidelberg can give me.”
The company has taken a B2 semi-automatic system initially but its modularity allows it to increase the speed or add cassette loading in future. The plates will feed Snowdonias GTO and Speedmaster SM 74-4+L.
Recognising that the company is investing for its next stage of growth, Snowdonia Press was given an Assembly Investment grant to help it with the purchase.
