ink2 Educates Print Buyers and Creative Professionals on the Value of Short Run Digital Color Printing at National Stationery Show

Monday 19. May 2008 - ink2, a California based leader in personally printed products, promotes the benefits of short run digital color printing to the estimated 15,000 attendees at the National Stationery Show.

With a digital color press from Kodak installed in its booth, ink2 is looking to change the market by demonstrating to domestic and international retailers the advantages and efficiencies of digital print on demand.

At the show, which takes place May 18-21 in New York City, ink2 demonstrates its ability to deliver end to end production with a custom web to print application developed in house by ink2 to drive high quality output on the KODAK NEXPRESS M700 Digital Color Press. By supporting ink2 with equipment and expertise at the show, Kodak better positions its portfolio of digital printing solutions to capitalize on the exciting opportunities in the social expression market.

“We have printed more than 46 million pieces since our founding in 1999, and by embracing the latest technology, we are able to continually enhance the scope of our solutions,” said Mark Rinella, President and CEO ink2. “When you see the endless selection of greeting cards in the store and still can’t find the right one, you realize the market needs to change. Combine the latest digital press technology from Kodak with the strength of the Web to aggregate a growing body of greetings content, and you have a better model. Retailers now have the ability to stock their stores with fresh relevant content on a daily basis.”

The KODAK NEXPRESS M700 Press that will run in ink2’s booth is one of the newest members of the KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Color Platform. It offers 4-color output at 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi resolution and boasts throughput of 70 A4/letter pages per minute (4,200 sheets per hour). It enables print providers to offer short run, variable data applications with high impact color that can help grow page volume by increasing the number of clients or print jobs.

Most stationery products today are produced in long runs using offset printing technology, but today’s digital devices such as the NEXPRESS M700 Press enable users to meet the demand for customized, high quality output in short runs.

“With ink2, Kodak has yet another unique opportunity to bring our message of digital opportunity to retailers and even consumers,” explained Jeff Hayzlett, Chief Business Development Officer and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. “Kodak technology enables customers to change the dynamics of the market. ink2 is a powerful example of how this change is driving success.”
