Dogan Gazetecilik Implements QuarkXPress 7
Wednesday 14. May 2008 - One of the Leading Newspaper Companies in Turkey to Continue its Successful Production with the Latest Version of Quark's Award-Winning Layout and Design Software
Quark Inc. announced today that Dogan Gazetecilik A.S., one of the leading newspaper companies in Turkey, has decided to continue its successful newspaper production with QuarkXPress. The company will implement the latest version, QuarkXPress 7, on 114 computers. Dogan Gazetecilik holds 23 percent market share in the Turkish newspaper market in terms of circulation, and 44 percent in terms of reach.
The company publishes daily newspapers such as the political daily Milliyet, which was founded 1950 and is one of the four best selling newspapers in Turkey with a highly influential reader profile. Following international principles of publishing and incorporating high ethical standards, Milliyet is Turkey’s undisputed champion regarding reliability. Other daily newspapers published by Dogan Gazetecilik are Radikal, Fanatik, and Posta. Along with extensive coverage of the economy, foreign affairs and politics, business, culture, and arts, liberal Radikal features articles by some of the country’s most respected academics. The newspaper closely follows current global news and includes important editorials from around the world. Fanatik is a pioneering, sports-only newspaper with an emphasis on football (soccer), and Posta, with its easy-to-read style, is the company’s mass-market paper and Turkey’ s best selling daily newspaper.
The implementation of QuarkXPress 7 at Dogan Gazetecilik follows an update of the entire IT environment. Elma Bilgisayar Ltd., provider of integration services to Dogan Gazetecilik since 1990, assisted with the upgrade process to QuarkXPress 7 and redesigning workflows.
“Our editorial and graphic design staff has gained a lot of experience with QuarkXPress throughout the years. By continuing our good partnership with Quark and upgrading to QuarkXPress 7 we can leverage the skills of our team and don’t need costly new training,” said Yucel Okan Senturk, Technology Director at Dogan Gazetecilik. “We appreciate the Turkish language support of QuarkXPress 7 as well as the possibility to generate PDF files directly from the application without using any other PDF generator product. Furthermore, Composition Zones will help us streamline our processes. Our users’ productivity is enhanced due to new imaging features otherwise implemented through products like Photoshop.”
“The decision of leading publishing companies like Dogan Gazetecilik demonstrates that Quark’s commitment to the Eastern European market is showing excellent results,” says Axel R. Paesike, Director Sales and Services for Central Europe at Quark. “Quark has continually improved language support for Eastern European customers and is working closely with partners like Elma Bilgisayar to ensure that our customers not only get the best publishing software available, but also manage to upgrade seamlessly while continuing their daily work.”
