Itec strengthens commercial PRINTING market presence with addition of IC-304 Print Controller, a CREO Color Server

Monday 12. May 2008 - Itec Distribution has added the IC-304 Print Controller, Powered by CREO Color Server Technology for the Itec C6500 digital colour production print system to its product range. The move will see the office automation giant intensify its presence in the production printing market.

The IC-304 Print Controller comes with advanced productivity and automation features, exceptional image and colour quality, easy integration with workflows, and support for variable data printing (VDP).
“It is designed to streamline the entire print production workflow, and to enable C6500 customers to significantly increase their productivity,” says Nick Constantinou, production printing manager at Itec. “We identified a need for this type of product at the top end of the commercial printing market. It complements the C6500, giving customers a digital colour press that comes in at a far better price performance ratio than competitive products. In addition, the CREO Color Server Technology is well-known and trusted in the industry.”
The IC-304 Print Controller comes with optimized hardware and software. Preset virtual printer parameters and drag-and-drop hot folders channel job-flow, while retaining the predefined job settings. The IC-304 also offers a professional imposition tool, automation tools for retaining print defaults for jobs, and flexible paper handling and in-line finishing capabilities.
Constantinou says the IC-304 achieves excellent image and colour quality results. “Its colour management tools provide a range of operations that save production resources on the one hand, and increase image quality on the other. You can use them to easily carry out colour calibration, last minute colour corrections, spot-colour editing, and gradation corrections.”
With the IC-304 Print Controller, Itec customers can easily incorporate digital printing into their existing JDF-based, web-to-print – or any other workflow configuration. Jobs sent from the workflow system are delivered to the IC-304 with a JDF job-ticket that includes all of the print parameters enabling fully automated, unattended printing and finishing.
The IC-304 connects into existing commercial print workflows, resulting in full integration of offset and digital printing operations, faster turnaround times and reduced labour costs. Urgent jobs, short runs, and proofs, for example, can be easily re-routed from offset, to a digital workflow.
The IC-304 Print Controller, Powered by CREO Color Server Technology, on exhibition at this year’s Drupa International Fair for Printing and Paper in Dusseldorf, will be available to view at Itec’s premises for those who wish to see it in action,” says Constantinou.
