Sinedita Bases its Editorial Solutions on Quark Publishing System 7

Tuesday 06. May 2008 - The leading Italian supplier of editorial systems, Sinedita specializes in providing content management solutions for the print media market. Following the release of Quark Publishing System (QPS) 7, Sinedita has decided to incorporate QPS into its software solutions.

Quark at the heart of Sinedita solutions

Since 1992, Sinedita has relied on Quark’s expertise for the page-layout side of its activities. “We developed a catalog pagination system called DIPO (Data In Page Out) based on QuarkXPress, which has been and continues to be the key to our solutions,” added Paolo Agus, President of Sinedita.

After developing solutions for print media, Sinedita decided to target the retail trade and their numerous advertising and communication materials: catalogs, flyers, leaflets, brochures, etc. Three of Italy’s largest retailers opted to use Sinedita’s Your Operator for GDO solution. “This solution is based on a Web interface that runs on QuarkXPress Server,” said Agus.

Over the past few years, Sinedita has developed collaborative workflow solutions since “Our customers faced ‘data in’ or content management issues rather than page layout ‘page out’ problems.” The release of Quark Publishing System 7 was therefore perfect for doing this.

“Total integration using QuarkXPress and QuarkCopyDesk enabled creative teams to be more productive without having to make any extra effort,” explained Agus. “This is why Sinedita decided to integrate its Visual Publication Planning and Production tool into QPS 7. The objective was to give QPS 7 full production capabilities, with complete control of advertisement files, document position in the publication, and a lot of other cool features.”

QPS7 – between two worlds

For Sinedita, Quark Publishing System 7 is a combination of, “a smart solution that caters to the needs of print media and a targeted, highly flexible, and totally open system for corporate publications,” because the architecture is based on common standards. Agus also added, “QPS7 is easy to incorporate into existing editorial workflows. In addition, thanks to the fact that QPS 7 is based on QuarkCopyDesk 7, it’s easy for contributors — photographers, artists, and copywriters to provide content without worrying about anything other than their core business — creativity.”

After the retail trade, Sinedita is now moving to target travel agencies, major users of multi-channel publicity, as well as advertising agencies. “Many companies don’t yet understand how our technologies, in conjunction with QPS 7 and QuarkXPress Server 7, can help them improve their production flows. In many cases they have isolated their creative activities from page layout, regardless of the media to be used. Only the large agencies have a fully integrated production department. Our solutions are there to cater to their needs — by removing the barriers between the various production phases and integrating them into a single and totally transparent tool. Quark products, such as Quark Publishing System 7 and QuarkXPress Server 7, combined with our proprietary solutions, are the answer to their requirements.”
