KODAK MAGNUS 400 II Platesetters Deliver Greater Production Efficiencies, Create a Completely Automated Prepress Solution
Tuesday 29. April 2008 - The latest KODAK MAGNUS 400 Platesetters can help enable increases in productivity, quality and flexibility for small to mid sized printing operations. Features of the new KODAK MAGNUS 400 II Platesetter and the KODAK MAGNUS 400 II QUANTUM Platesetter include faster plate loading and imaging, and the ability to handle more plate sizes.
The MAGNUS 400 II Platesetter images up to 22 plates per hour, while the MAGNUS 400 II QUANTUM Platesetter boasts an imaging rate of up to 38 plates per hour. By supporting two to six page plate sizes, the MAGNUS 400 II Platesetters give printers the flexibility to image a wider range of plates and provide support for a greater variety of presses.
“In replacing the first generation MAGNUS 400 Platesetters with these enhanced devices, we took the MAGNUS Platesetter familys top of the line 4 page CTP units and made them faster and more productive,” said Doug Edwards, General Manager and Vice President, Prepress Solutions, Kodaks Graphic Communications Group, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company. “These platesetters are an affordable, high quality solution, bringing the benefits of speed, wider plate widths and superior imaging ability to printers with smaller operations.”
MAGNUS 400 Platesetters are compatible with Kodaks entire line of thermal and non-process digital plates. The combination of a MAGNUS 400 II Platesetter, KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions and KODAK Plates creates a cost effective, all in one prepress solution for performance minded commercial and label printers. Utilizing KODAK THERMAL DIRECT Non Process Plates provides environmental benefits for the all-in-one prepress solution by eliminating the need for a plate processor and processing chemistry.
“As the only company to manufacture a complete thermal CTP prepress system, Kodak customers benefit from optimized interoperability and the convenience of working with a single provider for all of their prepress needs such as workflow, CTP devices, plates and proofing,” said Edwards.
The MAGNUS 400 II QUANTUM Platesetter features award winning KODAK SQUARESPOT Thermal Imaging Technology, which delivers an image on press that is six times more resistant to process variation than competing technologies. SQUARESPOT Technology achieves this stability through its unique, high resolution laser imaging system, which delivers a fine and power dense swath of energy at 10,000 dpi. Combined with intelligent Dynamic Auto Focus, SQUARESPOT Technology produces an accurate, consistent, and reliable dot that delivers robust plates and helps enable high levels of confidence in the system, plate to plate and day after day.
The MAGNUS 400 II QUANTUM Platesetters, with SQUARESPOT Technology and support for KODAK STACCATO Screening, take the high resolution of the MAGNUS 400 II Platesetter a step further and bring more vibrant colors and extraordinary detail to projects that require high levels of accuracy and definition.
In addition to their quality and speed, the MAGNUS 400 II Platesetters offer new features to increase production efficiencies and extend a printers range of capabilities. A bypass option with the multi-cassette unit (MCU) configuration allows for quick plate remakes, and a punch conveyor for the semiautomatic configuration makes inline plate punching possible, saving time while preparing the plates for the press. The platesetters come in a compact size, saving valuable floor space.
The new KODAK MAGNUS 400 II Platesetters will be available starting March 3, 2008 and will be shown in Kodaks booth at drupa 2008.
