Leading Belgian-French Media Group Roularta Upgrades Over 400 Licenses to QuarkXPress 7
Tuesday 11. March 2008 - Quark Inc. announced today the Roularta Media Group (RMG), the leading Belgian-French printing and publishing firm which employs over 3000 people, is the latest in a large number of media groups across Europe to upgrade to QuarkXPress 7.
RMG is involved in a wide range of activities that includes publishing monthly consumer magazines, news magazines, entertainment supplements, business magazines, sports industry magazines, newspapers, and books. Whilst headquartered in Belgium, Roularta’s subsidiaries and partnerships extend across Europe to Portugal, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Norway.
Mr. Erwin Danis, Premedia Director at RMG and Vice Chair of the Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG), an international assembly of industry associations whose goal is to establish and disseminate process specifications for best practices in graphic arts workflows, commented, “We carried out a very objective comparison between QuarkXPress 7 and Adobe InDesign and devised a simple points system on which we rated key criteria in each product. QuarkXPress 7 came out on top in almost every area but scored particularly well in terms of speed and reliability.”
Superior Features
“Compatibility with the Mac Intel computers was a determining factor in our decision, and Quark certainly scored with its quick release of a version of QuarkXPress that could run under the Intel processors. In addition, Quark Job Jackets will give us greater control throughout the production process and will help us increase efficiency in our workflow which will have far reaching benefits. We welcomed the release of Quark XPert Tools Pro, which added a wealth of new features and gives our designers even more flexibility with better scaling, improved guides, and powerful text-linking.”
Market Shift Towards Quark
Mr Danis added, “It is extremely important for us to monitor what is happening in the industry, and we carefully assessed the market before making our decision. What we found was a definite shift towards QuarkXPress 7 and a renewed faith in Quark as a company. We needed a solution that could process our volume of work, that focused on production as well as design, and could be integrated seamlessly with third-party systems – and QuarkXPress 7 ticked all these boxes.”
“Roularta’s choice of QuarkXPress 7 is a huge vote of confidence in Quark, and the purchase of 400 licenses guarantees the continuity of the use of QuarkXPress,” said Matthew Wallis, senior vice president, sales Europe and Africa. “Their choice of QuarkXPress 7 as the best package for managing their publishing requirements and production workflows demonstrates that QuarkXPress is still the number one choice for page layout and design.”
