La Gaceta de Canarias undergoes a radical change aided by Protec
Wednesday 05. March 2008 - In this new phase, the newspaper has set itself the task of covering all of the different regions in the Canary Islands
There are situations in which the time for change arrives, when it is necessary to shake things up radically. This is exactly what La Gaceta de Canarias has done. It has undergone a complete transformation; there is a new ownership – a group of local entrepreneurs – and the workforce has been renewed throughout the company. In short, it has been given a complete facelift. And to achieve this goal, it has placed its trust in Protec and its MILENIUM Cross Media solutions.
The change not only affects ownership and production. La Gaceta de Canarias has also decided, through MILENIUM, to overhaul its image, and has become a much more user-friendly publication, closer in format to a magazine. In addition, it has decided to set itself a very stimulating challenge: to be the first newspaper to cover all of the Canary Islands. For this reason it has set up two headquarters, one in Las Palmas and the other in Tenerife.
Using MILENIUM Cross Media, the newspapers two newsrooms will be totally integrated in an effective manner, making it possible to share, as appropriate, the editorial resources available. Thus, both offices workflow will be much improved, with the benefits that this entails.
For some time, La Gaceta de Canarias has been closely connected to El Mundo, but in this new phase it will be completely independent and its number of pages will increase. La Gaceta and El Mundo will now be sold together, but as two different newspapers, and all for only one euro.
