Year Three of PrintIT! Competition sees an exceptionally high standard of entries shortlisted for the Awards Ceremony at Stationers’ Hall

Thursday 28. February 2008 - This year’s PrintIT! Awards will again be held at the prestigious Stationers’ Hall in London on Friday April 25th, courtesy of Polestar and the Stationers’ Hall.

Students entering this third year of the PrintIT! competition, the industry-wide educational initiative to attract youngsters into a career in print, have generated a very high standard of entries according to the panel of leading industry figures judging the work submitted, making it a tough process to select those entries that are now on the shortlist.

“Firstly, we are honoured that both Polestar and Stationers’ Hall have risen to the occasion in supporting the use of the building for the second year running,” says Terry Watts, Chief Executive, Proskills UK and one of the final judges. “The ceremony itself promises to be a fantastic day, as this year’s entries were again of a very high calibre, just going to show how much young talent there is in our education system – a lot of which we hope will make its way into the printing industry as these youngsters choose their career paths.”

The students and teachers from the shortlisted teams are invited to attend the awards ceremony on the 25th April 2008, at Stationers’ Hall, London, which will again be hosted by BBC Six O’clock news presenter George Alagiah, who firmly supports PrintIT!’s efforts.

The eight categories for which prizes will be awarded are: Best Poster; Best Table Talker; Best ‘Free’ Design; Best Use of Brand Across the Range; Best Understanding of Printing Techniques; Best Use of Materials; Best Overall Presentation and Best Understanding of Environmental Concerns. Other awards to be presented on the day will go to; Best “Twinner” (in recognition of the assistance and advice offered by a printer to its local school or schools during the project); Best Teacher; Best Overall School Effort and Best Student.

The winning students and schools from these categories will be presented with individual prizes of a digital camera for each student, as well as a valuable print-related prize for the winning schools. As in previous years, the students and teacher named overall winners of PrintIT! 2008 will also be announced at the ceremony, and will be presented with an educational trip of a lifetime to St Lucia, where they will visit farmers on the island in order to see the benefits of Fairtrade; a major printing plant and also have lunch with the High Commissioner and attend various TV & radio interviews.
