Kodak Introduces Products for Professional Labs, Studios and Photographers

Monday 04. February 2008 - New Film, Software and Paper Enhance the Photographic Capture, Management and Output Experience

At the Photo Marketing Association Show (PMA), Eastman Kodak Company (NYSE:EK) introduced software and products designed to assist professional photographers, studios and professional labs as they evolve their businesses and explore new exciting ways to service their clients.

“Professional photographers, studios and professional labs continually seek ways in which they can differentiate themselves and offer premium products and services to their clients,” said Christopher Van Zandt, general manager and vice president, Professional Output at Eastman Kodak Company. “Our new offerings, comprising new films, paper and enhanced workflow management software, enable them to focus on identifying and maximizing their unique capabilities, which in turn, drives more business, both in terms of quantity and quality.”

New offerings announced at PMA include:

KODAK PROFESSIONAL ULTRA ENDURA High Definition Paper: Kodak’s new professional paper, with its high gloss, iridescent surface, extends the ULTRA paper family to include a high-contrast premium photographic paper designed for commercial applications. The paper, which comes in 40″ and 50″ widths, boasts a thick base (10.4 mil) for a premium feel.Optimized for both digital and optical printing, the paper creates intense blacks, as well as an extended color gamut for rich colors and attractive flesh tones. Also, because the paper is non-back-printed, it maximizes the both the placement and method by which it can be displayed.
KODAK PROFESSIONAL Digital Print Production Software (DP2) V. 9.1: The latest version of DP2, Kodak’s market leading central lab software, ensures that professional labs can continually identify and incorporate new category offerings through flexible design, and efficient rendering and producing of any output. Specific enhancements include bi-directional hot folder interfaces with NexPress printing solutions; improvements in handling of automatic adjustments on different image types (color, b/w, sepia, spot color); and the handling of images/order in KODAK PROFESSIONAL Auto Retouching Software. These enhancements are available today. Kodak will introduce additional enhancements to DP2 at the Kodak Professional Lab Workshop in Rochester, NY, the week of June 23, 2008.
KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA 400-SPEED COLOR NEGATIVE FILM: KODAK PROFESSIONAL PORTRA color negative film family builds on the successful introduction of improved PORTRA films in 2006. The finer grain of the PORTRA 400NC and 400VC films, combined with the spectacular skin tone of the entire portfolio, enables professional photographers to create striking, breathtaking photographs. Also, with finer grain and an emulsion overcoat specially designed for scanners, PORTRA 400 films reproduce beautifully, with either optical or digital output. This enables photographers to easily incorporate their film images into a digital workflow.
