SCREEN LATEST PLATERITE NEWS 2000+ PLATESETTER COMBINES SPEED WITH QUALITY FOR NEWSPAPER SECTOR
Thursday 03. January 2008 - Screen has added the PlateRite News 2000+ to its range of platesetters specifically aimed at newspapers looking for consistent quality.
Producing an impressive 106 broadsheet plates or 49 panorama plates an hour the PlateRite News 2000+ is Screen’s fastest platesetter and ideal for the fast-moving production processes in the newspaper sector. It incorporates the latest Screen thermal imaging technology which has been fine tuned over many years for commercial printing applications.
Four standard image settings provide a choice of resolutions (1,000 dpi, 1,016 dpi, 1,200 dpi and 1,270 dpi) and support for Screen’s Spektra AM/FM screening enables the production of extraordinary quality with ordinary screen rulings. The demand for high levels of quality in is driven partly by the increasing volume of colour pages in newspapers and the increasing production of quality magazine supplements. This in turn has led to growth in the use of thermal plates in the sector.
The PlateRite News 2000+ features a 64-channel laser diode imaging head to image plates from 460mm x 290mm (18.1 x 11.4 inches) up to a maximum plate size of 980 x 685mm. Automated plate loading and unloading for unattended operation is standard, as is dual plate loading, providing the ability to load two broadsheet plates simultaneously for further increases in productivity.
This new platesetter is supported by the Trueflow Rite News automated workflow system which is specifically designed for newspaper production and provides the necessary functionality for CTP output of plates in a newspaper environment.
Screen product manager Rob Hageman says: “Regional newspapers who want a combination of high speed, consistency and quality will find what they are looking for in the PlateRite N2000S+. Excellent colour quality and registration can be achieved with Spekta screening for Newspapers.”
